When Generic Zestoretic Should Not Be Used: You should not use Generic Zestoretic if you have had an allergic reaction to lisinopril (Zestril®, Prinivil®), hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ), sulfa drugs (such as sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim, Bactrim®, Septra®), or other blood pressure medicines (such as Accupril®, Altace®, Lotensin®, Lotrel®, Monopril®, or Zestoretic®). You should not use Generic Zestoretic if you are pregnant, or if you have hereditary or idiopathic angioedema. How to Use This Medicine:(Tablet) Your doctor will tell you how much Generic Zestoretic to use and how often. Your dose may need to be changed several times in order to find out what works best for you. Do not use more Generic Zestoretic or use it more often than your doctor tells you to. You may take Generic Zestoretic with or without food. If a dose is missed: If you miss a dose or forget to use Generic Zestoretic, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to use the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not use extra Generic Zestoretic to make up for a missed dose.
 
Storage and Disposal of Generic Zestoretic: Store Generic Zestoretic in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Ask your pharmacist, doctor, or health caregiver about the best way to dispose of any outdated Generic Zestoretic or medicine no longer needed. Keep all medicine away from children and never share your medicine with anyone. Drugs and Foods to Avoid: Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Make sure your doctor knows if you are using lithium, gold injections, or a diuretic ("water pill"), such as amiloride (Midamor®, Moduretic®), chlorthalidone (Thalitone®), eplerenone (Inspra®), furosemide (Lasix®), spironolactone (Aldactazide®, Aldactone®), or triamterene (Dyazide®, Dyrenium®, Maxzide®). Your doctor will need to know if you are using insulin or a diabetes medicine that you take by mouth, such as glipizide, glyburide, metformin, Actos®, Amaryl®, Avandia®, Glucotrol®, or Glucophage®. Tell your doctor if you are using a steroid medicine, such as dexamethasone, prednisolone, prednisone, or Medrol®. Tell your doctor if you are using sleeping pills (such as lorazepam, Ativan®), narcotic pain relievers (such as acetaminophen/codeine, acetaminophen/oxycodone, acetaminophen/hydrocodone, Endocet®, Lorcet®, Percocet®, or Vicodin®), or a pain or arthritis medicine (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, Advil®, Aleve®, Feldene®, or Voltaren®). Make sure your doctor knows if you are using a medicine to lower your cholesterol, such as cholestyramine (Questran®) or colestipol (Colestid®). You should not use medicines or salt substitutes that contain potassium (including supplements) without asking your doctor. Do not drink alcohol while you are using this medicine.
 
Warnings While Using Generic Zestoretic: Using Generic Zestoretic while you are pregnant can harm your unborn baby. Use an effective form of birth control to keep from getting pregnant. If you think you have become pregnant while using the medicine, tell your doctor right away. Make sure your doctor knows if you are breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, heart disease, heart valve problems, liver disease, diabetes, gout, or lupus. Tell your doctor about any allergic reaction you have had to any drug, especially if the reaction caused you to have swelling in your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Generic Zestoretic may make you dizzy. Avoid driving, using machines, or doing anything else that could be dangerous if you are not alert. Dizziness may be worse if you lose too much water from your body. You can lose water by sweating, having diarrhea, or vomiting. Tell your doctor if Generic Zestoretic makes you feel lightheaded or dizzy after you have been vomiting or had diarrhea. Generic Zestoretic may raise your blood sugar. You should check your blood sugar more often during the first month you take Generic Zestoretic, and then on a regular basis. Your doctor will need to check your blood at regular visits while you are using Generic Zestoretic. Be sure to keep all appointments. Make sure any doctor or dentist who treats you knows that you are using Generic Zestoretic. You may need to stop using Generic Zestoretic several days before having surgery or medical tests. Generic Zestoretic may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Use a sunscreen when you are outdoors. Avoid sunlamps and tanning beds. If you stop using Generic Zestoretic, your blood pressure may go up. High blood pressure usually has no symptoms. Possible Side Effects While Using Generic Zestoretic: Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects; Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing; blistering, peeling, red skin rash; change in how much or how often you urinate; chest pain; confusion, body weakness, uneven heartbeat, shortness of breath, or numbness or tingling in your hands, feet, or lips; dark-colored urine or pale stools; dry mouth, increased thirst, muscle cramps, problems urinating, or nausea or vomiting; fast, slow, or pounding heartbeat; fever, chills, sore throat, and body aches; lightheadedness, dizziness, fainting, shakiness, or hunger; nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; rapid weight gain; swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet; unusual bleeding, bruising, or weakness; yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes. If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor: Dry cough; headache; mild skin rash or itching.
